projectblessed Prayer Pledge Day 1

Today’s feast day honors our Blessed Mother, the model for all Christians. Mary’s faith and prayer serve as an example to show us how to draw close to her Son.

This month, spend time each day in prayer. Pray however you feel called to — the most important thing is that you make the time for prayer in your day, every day. Then come back and support your Blessed Is She sisters in their prayer.

Today, turn to Mary and ask her to guide your heart to Jesus over the next month.

Here are a few ideas to pray with Mary:

  • Spend time in reflection (“But Mary kept all these things, pondering them in her heart.” Luke 2:19)
  • Pray the Rosary
  • Meditate on the Magnificat
  • Begin memorizing a Marian prayer, like the Memorare or the Angelus
  • Pray for new mothers

Comment below with your thoughts:

How are you honoring Mary today in your prayer? Do you have a focus for these 31 days of renewal? How can the Blessed Is She Sisterhood support you this month?

or, simply answer:

Did you pray today?

I am so excited for this. I pray daily, but I am going to add journaling and memorizing Scripture this month. Hopefully that will help me to be more intentional and mindful in my prayer.

I love that, Gina! I have never been good at memorizing scripture, so I’d love to hear more about that.

I am not great at it, either. I am going to first just choose one or two verses, journal them, and pray them with my kids.

Started yesterday on the 33 Day Consecration to Mary so this prayer pledge fits in perfectly. So glad to be doing it along with all my sisters in Christ. Happy New Year!

Thank you Emily! These last three days have been extremely hard. I read somewhere that the devil hates Mary and comes all out during times of consecration. If today and yesterday are any indication, he is here and he is fighting hard to ensnare me back in his grip. But my love and trust in God is greater and I am powering through all temptation and past vices determined to grow to my holiness to the Lord, one day at a time.

I read scripture this morning and journaled about it. I got a lot about walking out of the darkness into His light. That He is light, so if I abide in Him, I am just like Him, and thus will be surrounded in light.

It was really a vivid visual for me, and something I desperately needed to hear in prayer!

Just keeping it real over here: we’re headed to Mass, and that might be it for today. In the chaos of our house I’m realizing I need to carve out intentional time for this. If that’s all that my prayer today reveals to me (between the screaming and the diapers and everything else) I’m going to call today a win and try for more tomorrow 🙂 Lifting you all up at Mass today!

Totally hear you, Caitlin. For some reason my kids allowed me to have some quiet time to read the Word! It was amazing and so worth it. I came out refreshed and excited to serve my family even more. I hope Mass gave you some time for peace! Most weeks that’s where I find peace as well 🙂

There is no greater form of prayer than the Mass! So just making it there today is more than enough! I wish I could get to daily Mass, and receive Our Lord daily in the Eucharist. He is truly our spiritual food, to strengthen us on our journey!

I spent time with the readings this morning before Mass. I meditated on Mary’s title as Queen of Peace, reflecting on how I need to channel her inner peace and calm in my own life, especially to accept those circumstances that may lie beyond my comfort or initial desire.
    God is good!

I overslept this morning. Made it to Mass, but didn’t get quiet prayer time in. But as soon as the kiddos were in rest time I sat down. Read and reflected on the readings. Thought about how Mary’s beautiful submission to the will of God doesn’t show her weakness, instead her great STRENGTH. It must have taken great strength to have that much faith and trust in God’s plan – all the while pondering it in her heart.

Thank you for that list of ideas above! After having a very successful round of the St. Andrew novena with my kids last month, I’m going to work on memorizing the Angelus with them. My goal is to pray is 3x/day (and in my dreamworld I have a bell to ring too…)

2016 will be my year to chatechize myself with everything I missed growing up…(sorry mom, I totally missed everything ❤)

I spent some time reflecting further on the homily after Mass this morning. I also used the time to pray for all mothers, but especially my sister who is expecting a baby girl in March.

I pray the Rosary daily already so I’m reading through the New Testament (it’s been awhile), starting in Matthew and continuing through, not limiting how many chapters I read each day. I’m going to journal and pray about whatever stands out to me.

We prayed the rosary as a family this evening. My own prayer time has been super hit or miss the last couple of months because my toddler has been waking for the day between 4:00 & 5:00, and I can’t seem to get up ahead of him. I miss my Jesus time so much. I’m grateful for this pledge here because it’s giving me accountability, but also lighting the fire again to make/find the time somewhere in my day, being creative and thinking outside the box if I must. Tomorrow, I have the whole day to myself to retreat, so I’m planning a few hours in Adoration for silence and listening, and hopefully beginning to discover what God wants of me in this next season. Praying for you, ladies!

I’m new to the Blessed is She community. I did pray today first by meditating on the Magnificat in the morning before I attended mass and then by saying a decade with my 4 year old daughter (she doesn’t have the patience yet for the full rosary). I specifically am using Mary as guidance for strength, faith and trust in dealing with my 2 year old daughter’s severe medical issues.

Just now praying. Journaling. Write down grateful moments, then areas I need God’s grace/assistance followed by BIS daily devotion. I still have spontaneous song “your hands around my ?” from IHOPKC featuring Matt Maher/Audrey Assad singing this song. I think I replayed it on YouTube at least 6 x’s last night. ????

I went to my church’s Vigil Mass last night and veiled for the first time-it was such a feeling of peace! Today, I prayed for a good bit of a long drive and I have started looking into and praying about the consecration to Mary. I’ve decided to get back into journaling more–the daily devotions are an excellent place to start!

Tried to be more mindful as I prayed. I ended up trying to color and walk through a chain of thankfulness.. Which lead me to reflecting on Mary and a sisterhood and some intentions. I think I’ll try to set my time aside and be mindful. I’m a big St Francis de Sales fan and I like his approach that you first put yourself in Gods presence and ask him to inspire you. Thank you so much for this!!!

My husband and I started going through the Pieta Prayer book today and committed to doing the Fifteen St. Bridget Prayers in it. My friend told me about this a couple months ago…the prayers have to be said everyday for a year, and when the year is up we will have honored each of Jesus’ wounds. With the prayers come 21 promises that are too good to pass up (for example, “I shall graciously receive his (whoever recites these prayers) soul, and will lead it into eternal joys.” and “I shall preserve him from a sudden death,” etc.).

Daily, extemporaneous prayer happens pretty easily for me but I want to get back into hand-lettering scripture. Think I’ll make a goal of memorizing the Memorare and Anima Christi.

Last night (which was in fact early this morning), through God’s grace, I decided to consecrate this new year to our mamma Mary. I just recently completed my 33-day Marian consecration on the feast of Our Lady of Guadelupe, but I felt the urge to renew those vows of consecration so I could strengthen my trust in Jesus and my overall gratitude this year. I’m very excited about this, and to see how 2016 enfolds!

You go Elissa, you listen to the Holy Spirit inside of you leading you. I will add you to my prayers today, that 2016 is a good year for you and you grow in more holiness with the Lord.
