Poor Nicodemus. Sometimes I don't know what Christ is talking about either, but usually when I do it's only because I'm on this side of the Resurrection.
I've got two thousand years of smarter, holier people explaining Christ's words to me. Nicodemus just had the prophets and his own smarts. No offense to Nicodemus' intelligence, but I've got things a lot easier. But that thing about the wind blowing wherever? I don't know what He's talking about.
But I do know this: the Son of Man was lifted up and whoever believes in Him may have eternal life.
That truth, that cut-and-dry truth, rocks my world. It sounds preposterous, but I know it is as simple as it sounds.
Let us live as one heart and soul, clinging to that truth. Let's let it permeate our lives, our friendships, our homes. Let's make every moment—no matter if it is joyful or sorrowful—ring out with the truth that our lives are radically different because the Son of Man has been lifted up and we believe in Him.
We don't need to be theologians or biblical scholars to get into Heaven. We just need to believe, to know, and to love the Lord.
Pray for those who are struggling with doubts and, if need be, include yourself in that prayer.
