He Comes to Save You

He Comes to Save You

"She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21).

“God saves”—that’s the mystery of this season. The name “Jesus” even means “God saves.” What does it mean to you that God comes to save you?

To me, it means that I can stop trying to save everything, and everyone. I can stop trying to make things happen or fix things by my own power. That’s God’s work. I can let go. And let God.

Letting go can feel vulnerable, can’t it? It's hard to surrender. It's so hard to trust sometimes. It can feel scary when we are not in control. But if Jesus became a vulnerable little baby fully dependent on Mama Mary and Saint Joseph to raise Him and keep Him safe, I think we can also surrender and be the children that we truly are before Our Father in Heaven. He’s got us. He’s in control. It is Jesus who saves.

This season can get a little crazy. There’s so much to do and so many responsibilities. Let’s remember that Jesus is with us. He comes to save us. This is His work and He’s got it under control.

"For he shall rescue the poor when he cries out, and the afflicted when he has no one to help him. He shall have pity for the lowly and the poor; the lives of the poor he shall save" (Psalm 72:12-13).

Let’s let Jesus save us and those we love this Christmas. That’s what He’s coming here to do.

Pray More Novenas offers so many novenas, but this one for surrender is a great one to embrace this Advent. Email a sister or friend; do it together.
