I am like a hamster in the wheel, heart always racing, always moving, always going. I have to do this and I have to do that. There is a constant uphill battle that I have forged for myself, and it is unrelenting.
My daily obligations, my work at the hospital, my work at my home, my constant pressure on myself, all of that is endless. It is exhausting.
But you know what extinguishes that? You know what takes that all away? You know who is even more relentless than the wheel that I continue to turn?
You know.
And I know. And she knows, and he knows. We all know. We all know. We all know about our God who does not grow faint or grow weary, about our God who increases strength in him who has none, about our God who allows us to run and not be weary. That God. We all know.
But it is such a different matter to take your head knowledge and put it in your heart. It is a completely different idea to take that truth and turn it into action.
But we have an example of a man who did it (Jesus). We have examples of plenty of people who have done it (saints). We have people in our own lives who show us what it is to get off the hamster wheel and live life.
You, who are labored and heavy burden, you will find rest for your soul in Him. We will find rest once we get off of that wheel and live for Him. Every day, every moment, every piece of our lives is strung together by the Almighty. And He will do great things through us. Great things.
What you think is insignificant or weak or unimportant? That's where He will give you strength. That's where He deepens every part of your being.
What you think is an obligation that you must fulfill? Get off the wheel and ask Him.
What you do to keep yourself busy instead of in prayer with Him? That's where you will be renewed, convicted, sought out.
What you cry out for in your suffering? He understands. He is our Great Comforter.
What you don't think you can do, because of fear or doubt? He will mount up with wings like eagles, you will run and not grow weary, you will walk and not faint.
We just need to get off of the wheel, and live.
