Lent is but a few weeks away, and you might be starting to wonder, "What am I going to do for Lent?!" This question proves to be stressful for many of us, as we begin to fret about "doing Lent the right way" or becoming distracted by what others are doing.
This is not the purpose of the Lenten journey.
As we know, Lent is all about going into the desert with Jesus, to fast and pray alongside Him, to face our temptations wielding the Word of God, to be purified by the Holy Spirit, and to prepare to celebrate the most sacred Mysteries of our Faith. It's about riding ourselves of anything that keeps us from Jesus so that He can more fully possess our hearts. It's about offering our whole hearts to Him in love and thanksgiving.
The Best Way to Figure Out What the Do for Lent
Since that is our foundation for discerning what to "do" for Lent, the best way to go about deciding is to ask Jesus. Ask Him what He desires for your Lent. He knows your heart more deeply than anyone else—even yourself. He knows what will most benefit your soul and draw you closer to Himself this season. So start by asking Him.
