Our Blessed Brunches have brought Catholic women together all over the globe. New Bible study groups have been formed, new friendships made, and new tribes assembled—all thanks to women's fearless "yeses." If you are interested in hosting or attending a Blessed Brunch, but are curious to see what one actually looks like in real life, we're bringing you stories from women who have been there, done that.
We will regularly share these Blessed Brunch Stories in the hopes that you will be encouraged to bring one to your own city. Whether you gather with two women or two hundred women, time spent together in fellowship is never wasted. Let's invite one another into our homes and into our hearts!
Blessed Brunch Stories: Royal Oak, MI
Annemarie, did you host or attend this Blessed Brunch?
I hosted.
Where was the Brunch held?
A home.
Tell us a bit about what happened at the Brunch.
We started and ended with a prayer, had casual conversation, and used the question cards which sparked other conversation.
What was your feeling going into the Brunch, and what was it coming out of the Brunch?
The group was diverse with people who did not know each other well. I wasn't sure how the conversation would go.
At the end of the brunch, there was a joy of sisterhood, a common heart, and hope for continued relationships (even if it would be sporadic when we saw each other next).
What's next for you personally and/or for the group?
My co-host and I will host again and probably invite these ladies to join again!
What advice do you have for someone who is interested in attending and/or hosting a Blessed Brunch but may be hesitant or fearful?
Do it! You can make it as simple or elaborate as you want. I have a "small" apartment and no fancy furniture, etc.
Be yourself and your guests will be comfortable. The connection with women of a like-heart is worth the hesitancy! Put out into the deep!
Where did you see God move?
I saw God move in me. I was peaceful and joyful, putting aside the "type A" personality and letting the morning unfold with grace!
