Let us hold unwaveringly to our confession that gives us hope, for he who made the promise is trustworthy. // Hebrews 10:23
Hope and trust. These two words roll off our tongues so easily. Yet it is difficult to plant these words deep within our hearts and it takes much more effort to live them out. Unwavering hope and trust is only possible through Someone Who is the source of hope and Who is completely trustworthy.
We must fall in love with Christ, we must truly get to know Him, His Person. Only then can we see the fruits of His love for us, both the quiet and the radical ways He transforms our lives. We will come to learn that He is trustworthy, He is worthy of our trust. Our love stories about Christ will in turn give others that same hope we have found in Him.
The more we spend time with Him, the more convicted we will become to hold on to the Good News that gives us hope, our confession of faith. We get to know Him through prayer, reading His Word, Daily Mass, Adoration, Confession, and by simply talking to Him. We get to know Him in the men, women, and children who surround us.
What is His promise to us? His promise is eternal life. Our hope is found in the Resurrection! That is our hope! That is what we are called to share! That is our Good News. There is life and life in abundance through Him, with Him, and in Him! There is Eternal Life and we have a place in His Kingdom.
Hope and trust in Him and in His promise. That is a sentence that doesn’t roll off the tongue so easily, but it is the sentence I want to embed deeply within my heart and, even more, live out.
Hope and trust in Him and His promise, for He is trustworthy.
Let Us Pray
Lord God, help us to have hearts receptive to hope. Help us to know You and love You more, increasing our hope in Your promise through relationship with You. Reveal to us the ways that we do not trust You, those areas in which we do not believe You're faithful. Send Your Holy Spirit to shed the light of Truth upon those areas. We are Yours! Amen.
For Discussion
In what areas do you struggle to trust the Lord? Dig deep and spend time here... Why do you think that is?
How would your life look different if you entrusted that area(s) specifically to Jesus? How would you feel, act, and decide?
