Being Known

“You are of more value than many sparrows.” We are of more value than the sparrows that are not forgotten before God, and the hairs of our heads are numbered. It is a comfort to be reminded that we will never be forgotten by God. The Holy Spirit, the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession, values each and every one of us. We are so valuable to Him that He wants us to guard our souls more than anything. We have nothing to fear from those who would kill our bodies, that is, if our souls are in a state to face God. So, we must be vigilant before God, and seek to become more like Him.

“Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will be known. Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops.” While this can be taken in one light as a warning, it also can be seen as encouragement. Our faith even when lived quietly is known to God. If we whisper good things in the dark, these will be made known, as well as all the bad that we say.

It is so easy to have a begrudging thought towards others or a despairing moment in the midst of a hard day, but to be saints we must turn these uncharitable, hopeless thoughts into prayer. When we find ourselves in a miserable moment of a day, we must offer that up to God. When we encounter unkind or irritating persons, we must offer prayer for that person in our hearts. When nothing seems to be going well, and the situation seems hopeless, we must remember that God "works all things according to the counsel of [H]is will."

Let us be mindful of God in our lives today. During the still moments, place your heart in His presence. In the crazy moments, let your heart reach out to Him for help. For whatever we say and think to ourselves, will be made known, so let it be good, and for our salvation. We are so valuable to God, that He wants us all to be with Him forever.
