Our Blessed Brunches have brought Catholic women together all over the globe. New Bible study groups have been formed, new friendships made, and new tribes assembled—all thanks to women's fearless "yeses." If you are interested in hosting or attending a Blessed Brunch, but are curious to see what one actually looks like in real life, we're bringing you stories from women who have been there, done that.
We will regularly share these Blessed Brunch Stories in the hopes that you will be encouraged to bring one to your own city. Whether you gather with two women or two hundred women, time spent together in fellowship is never wasted. Let's invite one another into our homes and into our hearts!
Blessed Brunch Stories: Scarsdale, NY
Ericka, did you host or attend this Blessed Brunch?
I hosted.
Where was the Brunch held?
A local parish.
Tell us a bit about what happened at the Brunch.
We prayed together and had a discussion about friendships. It was the ongoing theme throughout the month. We focused on how we be Christ and receive in our friendships. How we see Christ in our friends, and how to allow Him to love us through our friends.
What was your feeling going into the Brunch, and what was it coming out of the Brunch?
Going in, it was weighing on my heart that many women struggle with forming deep Catholic friendships.
Leaving, I was at peace knowing that God was moving and that this conversation was needed.
What's next for you personally and/or for the group?
We gathered everyone's emails and we will meet next month—May 18th!
What advice do you have for someone who is interested in attending and/or hosting a Blessed Brunch but may be hesitant or fearful?
Come in with no expectations. God will show up.
It can be one comment, an action, or just the beauty of sisterhood. Be open for God to witness to you.
Where did you see God move?
I saw Him move in the women who wouldn’t be vulnerable otherwise.
We made it a point to keep everything said in the group in the group. This made it safe for these sisters to speak up. They have so much to give. It’s absolutely beautiful to bloom together.
