I don't know about you, but I am a firm believer that good snacks are a necessary part of a road trip. When planning a road trip, I am always the person to discuss and plan what the needed snacks are: veggies and humus, mini cheeses, sparkling water, nuts, chocolate covered pretzels, you name it—I am the keeper of the snicky snacks!
Interestingly enough, when the Israelites fled out of Egypt, they did not have time to to prepare food before they began their journey. I mean, the bread was unleavened which meant it was not prepared with yeast to rise. Imagine the chaos of people stuffing bags full of cabbages, fruit, bread, or whatever food they could find in their homes as they hurried to leave.
Even though the Israelites left in haste with little prepared food, they brought with them the most important ingredient, the presence of the Living God.
The presence of God covered His children, before and behind them. He led, and they followed. He went with them in a bold way to go on a journey that would take many twists and turns. In many ways, the same could be said about our lives.
The presence of Jesus always goes with you; He is never not with you. He is leading and guiding you, even when you don't feel close to Him.
The next time you go on a road trip with your girlfriends, the family, or your boyfriend, definitely remember to pack your favorite snicky snacks. But more importantly, consider how the presence of God goes with you, is always with you.
Ask yourself: where am I finding the presence of God in my life right now? If that is hard to sense, go back and remember all the ways He has led and cared for you before.
