So often I hear the first part of this reading,
“And I tell you, ask and you will receive;
seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives;
and the one who seeks, finds;
and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
But then Jesus says, “What father among you would hand his son a snake when he asks for a fish?” Luke 11
Now that I can understand. My parents want to fill my needs, even though I’m now a grown woman. I watch my friends who are mothers tend to their children with such tender kindness. The baby cries and my friend quickly drops what she’s doing to nurse her.
And God, as our Heavenly Father seeks to provide for all of our Earthly needs. But don’t forget, we first have to ask.
