Quiet, peaceful prayer doesn’t just look the same for everyone. Like any other facet of our lives, each of us approach God in unique way. For some of us, silence and contemplation come naturally, but for others, calming the heart and mind for prayer is one of the greatest challenges of our prayer life.
Today, seek out a way to find quiet and turn toward Heaven.
Here are a few ideas:
- Pray the Rosary
- Sit with Jesus at Adoration
- Reflect on today’s reading and devotional
- Journal
- Spend a moment in a quiet church
- Light a candle and recenter within your physical surroundings

January 12, 2016 at 12:09 pmYes, I LOVE silence. My favorite ways to pray silently are journaling and simple contemplation in adoration. I also try to spend time before falling asleep going over the day, praying for intentions and people I can remember, and thanking God for blessings. Silence is so often missing in today’s world, and it’s hard to disconnect. But at least for me, silence leaves me feeling refreshed, centered, and at peace.

January 12, 2016 at 1:59 pmI definitely need to find a few minutes and recenter today…probably with a candle and some journaling.

January 12, 2016 at 4:11 pmI love silent moments, especially when journaling before bed and reading the daily readings in the morning before I get ready for bed.

January 12, 2016 at 7:11 pmI do a daily Rosary and am doing a Novena to the Holy Family right now. I also usually read the daily readings and devotional here at BIS, which are great! Usually I have to try to find internal quiet without a lot of external quiet because my house is pretty busy all day and my little ones resist going to bed early. 😉 Candles help! So does putting some essential oils in a pot on the stove. Journalling is a great idea to keep up with. I do it when I’m in rough internal times, but it would be nice to do as a regular practice.

January 12, 2016 at 9:41 pmToday was a good prayer day!
I got up unusually early (long story) and did Morning Prayer right after a quick breakfast, then today’s BIS devotion, then my rosary. I even had a small meeting w/ prayer at my house tonight, with people several non-Catholics.
As wonderful as this was, I’m exhausted! LOL I am not a morning person! I hope to find more balance so I can pray even if I sleep that “extra” hour.
