Prayer Pledge 2017: Day 27

By nature, I am a person who likes answers. I like to know the how and why of things, the plan, the directions. I appreciate situations in which I am holding all the cards and my next move is clear.

The spiritual life doesn’t work like that. Part of the spiritual journey is learning to trust. I have worked hard to lean into the uncertainty, to let myself linger in the unknown. One of the ways I have found that helps me embrace the inexplicable is by considering miracles. The little miracles in my day (the found object in a place where I was sure I had looked) to the providential circumstances that change lives (that story is too long for a parenthetical) to the healings of body and spirit that we hear from friends and acquaintances near and far.

Miracles aren’t just a thing of history. Miracles are happening here and now.

Comment below with your thoughts:

Have your eyes been opened to miracles in your life? How can you foster awareness to see where God is working?

or, simply answer:

Did you pray today?

I’m a bit speechless after reading today’s prayer pledge. Here’s why. In December 2015 I was told I had colon cancer. I boy who I taught in school punched me in the gut and I had to go to the er. That event led to me finding out about the cancer . I had two surgies . The first was for an Ostomy and then I had some chemo and six weeks of radiation . That caused me to be really sick. The in sept. 2016.. The most amazing surgeron removed my rectum, large intestine, and I had a full hysterectomy with part of my vagina removed. Since that surgery I have gotten better. So good I have not felt that good in the last three years. I went for my first scans in Jan 3rd and they showed that the cancer is back. It’s in my pelvis area and lymphnodes. The onocolgist said its aggressive cuz off how fast it returned and I needed chemo. He then went on to say to me that it could very well take my life … I was stunned. this pass year I have engaged in prayer like I never have. I attend healing masses and have many little miracles happen to me. Like when woke up last year and was driving to my local bakery and I ended up at church and the mass was about Jesus healing the leper. I cried in mass that day because I believe God sent to church to show me I can be healed too. I’ve been waiting and praying the last day and a half while I wait to hear what my trusted surgeron plan is next and I’ve been scared because of what that oncologist has said to me. I have two daughters and a husband whom I adore with my life. So I’m sitting here trying to wrap my thinking on how can this be done. I believe that Jesus sent that boy to punch me as miracle and it saved my life. I need to be healed again and I was just thinking about how will it happen? Will it happen and I began to get scared so I prayed then opened my email and read this prayer pledge. I believe it’s a sign from Jesus telling me miracles happen and they will happen for me. I know I’m
Going to be okay. This won’t take my life . I will see and hold my grandchildren. I will be alive to share my miracle with others. I too like to have a plan and know the path . All I know is that I will be okay and Jesus will heal me. Thank you for writing today’s post. It to saved me. Please pray for me to be healed. I to will pray for all of you! Gods peace and Love to you all!

Dear Aliscia, I am praying that you can take everything that ever comes your way, health-wise and spiritually. I know healing miracles happen through prayer every day because I have experienced miracles through prayer in my own life.
