Prayer Pledge 2017: Day 16

As we move into the second half of January, we have the opportunity to refocus and recenter in prayer.

St. Francis De Sales said, “Have patience with all things, But, first of all with yourself.”

My prayer resolution for the next two weeks is to be patient. I so easily get down on myself for not having everything exactly the way it should be, for all the little ways that I don’t think I am measuring up — including in prayer. So for the next few weeks, I am going to work on being less critical of myself and more forgiving. God is patient and forgiving with me — I need to cultivate that practice within myself.

Comment below with your thoughts:

What is your resolution in prayer for the rest of the month? Where do you need to refocus?

or, simply answer:

Did you pray today?

Yes, I have been praying a lot.. I found myself talking to God, asking for His mercy and forgiveness. Praising Him for all the good things and not so good. We need Him so much! I will pray for all you BIS sisters, that our Father overshadows us with all his love and mercy.

I was excited about a new set of goals for my Stella and Dot business at the beginning of January but lost my focus while my husband was in the hospital. He’s more or less fine now. Even though my little business isn’t part of my spiritual life, I don’t think, I am glad for the reminder to focus on it now that the Darling Husband is home and we are settling into the New Normal of our lives.

I’m going to focus on resting in uncertainty instead of asking God to answer all my questions. “Newness” doesn’t even begin to describe the season of life I’m in, and God is asking me to trust Him and trust that He is working even though I can’t see what He’s doing. This is so much easier said than done, but as today’a pledge says… I need to be patient with myself as I work on this 🙂

I am going to try to focus outside myself. I am who God made me so I need to focus and what He wants me to do for him.

My resolution in prayer for the rest of the month is to try to fully articulate to God my prayers. Many times when I am at mass or during the day, my prayers to God are jumbled up. My prayers are the most jumbled up when I am worried or anxious. I can’t even help during those times but question if He knows or hears me. Regardless, no matter what, I am at peace because I know God understands what I am praying to Him.

As I am praying the rosary every night, I need to refocus to the words I am praying aloud. Sometimes my mind will drift. I will think about what I need or will have to do the next day, for example. I want to keep focus on the prayer and not let my mind drift.
