Prayer Pledge 2017: Day 13

It’s been a long week here. The first full week back at work and school for me, and I’m toast. My word for 2017 is silence, and I lacked it.

So today, I am doing something simple. On my drive home tonight, I will turn off my music. I won’t make a phone call. I will embrace the quiet bubble of my car on my commute.

Today, can you drive, take the bus or train, walk, or however you get around in silence with me? Acknowledge the noise that surrounds you, and surrender to it. Welcome the quieting of your body and mind, and turn your heart to God.

I have a friend who commuted in quiet for a whole Lent. I may not be there yet, but today I can embrace the (sometimes uncomfortable) silence.

Comment below with your thoughts:

Did you find silence in your travels today? Did it change your perspective on your day?

or, simply answer:

Did you pray today?

This is exactly where I’m at today! The first full week back on campus and it was rough. I listen to the rosary on my way home in “the bubble of my car.” It seems this post was written just for me…my word this year is “listen.”

My word is still I definitely have a busy mind! This also makes me wonder if when Jesus traveled from town to town did he have a drum or type of music to enjoy?

I did find silence in my travels today. I found silence on my walking my dog this morning. I prayed and talked to God, asking Him to be with me today and show Himself to me. It’s hard sometimes to feel that sense of comfort when He is with us all the time.
Later in the day, I did not bother to turn on the radio in my car on my way home. I sat and reflected on the ways how God is working with me in my life and the ways He already has. I started to feel how much He truly and deeply cares for me.
