Prayer Pledge 2017: Day 4

Over the last few days, I’ve been asking myself (and you): What can I do to start 2017 refreshed and grounded? What can I do to foster my relationship with God all year?

As we have started 2017, our prayer prompts have asked about us to recognize what we need in my spiritual life to keep my soul whole and healthy.

Sometimes, though, we need to start with our bodies to be able to grow spiritually! As Catholics, we honor the Incarnation by recognizing the unity of body and soul. Today, do something for your physical body in addition to your spiritual self.

What can you make time for in your day?

  • Eat food that nourishes your body
  • Move in a way that feels invigorating — walk, stretch, swim, or whatever feels right
  • Rest or nap to recharge
  • Spend time outdoors

    Well, I can start by putting the cinnamon rolls *away*! ? And then I won’t let the rain keep me from getting out for a walk. Thank you Jesus for our bodies!

    Sometimes when I pray for a sad situation, I tend to wallow in it, it’s good to cry, but then I have to remember that the lord already knew I was going to be selfish, I know that I should trust God more than that. Jesus, I trust you! The lord has made my burden light. And now the joy comes!

    So, today, to “honor” my body I am going to the doctor for monthly blood tests to see if I can still tolerate my cancer meds. (btw, the first two days did not “show” on my IPad, so I could not comment. I did pray, though. Are we supposed to comment daily? That might be more than I can do…)

      You don’t have to respond in comments every day. No one is required to make that commitment, only to pray.

    I did pray this morning and last night , but as far as taking care of the body I have not been to the gym since December 1st and I am feeling it, spiritually and physically it all goes together for me. I pray I can find the time to get back to my routine and exercise at least 3 times a week again. I ask for your prayers for my intention.

    My body is a protective outer covering for my soul. My soul is like an unborn child in it’s’ mother’s womb. We have to nurture our soul by taking care of our bodies and our minds. Eating healthy foods and excising make our bodies and minds feel good. The more we take care of ourselves, the more we nurture our souls. Our souls can be seen clearer by others the healthier and happier we are.

    Whenever I am outside in nature, surrounded by trees on a hike or surrounded by water on a beach, it invigorates me and puts me in touch with my soul. To take the one big deep breath at the sea or reaching the top of a hill, my soul and I praise God for the beauty that He has bestowed on this Earth. I thank Him. My body and soul feel grounded and connected to Him.
