By nature, I am a person who likes answers. I like to know the how and why of things, the plan, the directions. I appreciate situations in which I am holding all the cards and my next move is clear.
The spiritual life doesn't work like that. Part of the spiritual journey is learning to trust. I have worked hard to lean into the uncertainty, to let myself linger in the unknown. One of the ways I have found that helps me embrace the inexplicable is by considering miracles. The little miracles in my day (the found object in a place where I was sure I had looked) to the providential circumstances that change lives (that story is too long for a parenthetical) to the healings of body and spirit that we hear from friends and acquaintances near and far.
Miracles aren't just a thing of history. Miracles are happening here and now.
