Have you ever felt uncertain about something you sensed God was calling you to do? Maybe it was to have a difficult conversation with a coworker or family member. Or perhaps it was responding in trust to a path God was laying out in front of you. Maybe it was trying be still and hear the voice of the Spirit in discernment over a new career or relationship to pursue.

Throughout Exodus, you see the humanity of Moses play out in the vibrant story of God intervening in the lives and history of the Israelites. Moses often doubted his own abilities and was not a great public speaker. I imagine he felt uncertain, and perhaps at times worried about what others would think of him. I imagine he struggled with insecurities many of us have known at one time or another. In many ways, each of us is really not that different than Moses.

The First Reading is a reminder to me that sometimes when we personally experience God active and moving in our lives, He calls us to things we may not outright understand or feel a little uncertain about. We may not see how God's plan will play out in time, just like Moses.

The point is not to have everything figured out from the beginning, but lean into the Spirit with expectant faith and trust you are responding to the will of God as best as you know how.
