Guiding Little Hearts: The Importance of Taking Your Kids to Confession

Blessed Is She offers a free, downloadable Examination of Conscience for Kids, which is a great way to help them prepare for the Sacrament of Confession.

Let's Celebrate: Ten Years of Blessed Is She

So much has changed over ten years . . . and yet so much has remained the same. Jenna Guizar, founder of Blessed Is She, reflects on the minitry's ten year anniversary.

Why Get This Year's Lent Devotional from Blessed is She? - Blessed Is She

As we've been gearing up and sharing about our brand new Lent devotional, Rescued, this question has come up a couple of times: What do I get when I purchase the Blessed is She Lent devotional?   Well, besides this incredibly beautiful book to use in the chapel or in your prayer chair, to ponder and journal through, to have as a tangible keepsake between you and the Lord... there's more.   Some of you were able to pray with us during Advent, whether that be with the Advent devotional, Found, or by following along with us in your email. THOUSANDS of us were reading the same thing every single day... finding ourselves again and again held by our Good Shepherd.   We will walk together again this Lenten season by narrowing our focus on this ONE thing: the One who became the Lamb of God to rescue you and me.   You can follow along in your email or by purchasing the actual book, all praying as one community, sharing one heart and mission: to get to know and emulate this Lamb of God.   But if you purchase the book, you get icing on the already beautiful cake.   You are invited to join us to pray together, live, in real time, on the Blessed is She app.   Once you purchase, you will receive the link to the exclusive space we created just for: participating in our Lent kick-off(!!), praying LIVE every weekday about the theme and Lent, sharing our hearts in an intimate and beautiful way in a safe space with other Catholic women, creating a virtual small group to journey through this book alongside you. It's too good to be true. But it is ;)   So, what do you get when you purchase our devotional, Rescued? You get a sisterhood, walking tangibly beside you every single day in our exclusive Lent group in our FREE Blessed is She app.   Can't wait to see you in there, friend.   And I can't wait to get to know this Lamb alongside you, to worship the One who came to save you and save me.   All glory to God, now and forever.

The Most Important Resolution of Them All - Blessed Is She

In 2014, Blessed is She began as a little seed in my heart—a desire to read Scripture alongside other Catholic women as well as share about the beauties and the truths of our Catholic Faith. For nearly ten years, we have read the daily readings alongside each other and shared what God is doing in our hearts through His word.  The Holy Spirit wants to ignite that desire again. He wants to invigorate women's hearts to come alive in love for Him, for His Word, and for the grace He pours out.  As we kick off 2024, let's recommit our daily prayer to opening up His word. The Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us: "God is the author of Sacred Scripture. In Sacred Scripture, the Church constantly finds her nourishment and her strength, for she welcomes it not as a human word, 'but as what it really is, the word of God.'" Let's get to know the Author Himself, our Creator and Savior and Friend. Let's let His Word nourish us, strengthen us, heal our wounds, convict us, change us, love us. As we draw closer to Him in His Word, He digs a well within us, taking us deeper and deeper into a beautiful, intimate, sacred relationship with Him. I invite you to read Sacred Scripture alongside hundreds of other women and me every single day... to open up the daily readings, whether it be on Blessed is She, the USCCB, the Magnificat, and to let His word soak into our bones.  Let's get to know our Lord in His Word, every single day. Join us on the Blessed is She app (it's free!), comment on the day's devotions "done" or your own personal takeaway, hop on live with us every weekday at 3pm ET to share what God is speaking to you through His Word. I can't wait to be nourished by Him alongside you, dear sister. He's in the business of making us new. Join the BIS App

Deciding What to Do for Lent (a Free Guide) - Blessed Is She

I open my computer to dozens of emails of incredible resources to help my family and me during this Lenten season (mostly the most beautiful children's resources!). I click through each email, wondering in my head what I'll possibly do this Lenten season to *really* enter in—to make this a Lent that I can look back on and think, "That was my most transformative Lent ever." What to give up? What to add to in my prayer time? What to do to give alms in a unique way? What does God want from me this year? I long for a quick answer to these questions that reside just at the surface, my anxious heart thinking "I've got to rock this Lent!" I breathe deeply and ponder, "O Lord, where are the answers to the question that my soul actually wants to utter: Where is deeper union with You?" I know in my heart of hearts the answer lies in one place alone: the heart of God. He holds the key to my questioning, He knows the longings of my heart, He is calling me into something beautiful and new and quiet and hidden. And yet... I keep my email inbox open, and I keep scrolling through to find *the one* that will change the game for me instead of closing my computer, grabbing my Bible and prayer journal, and heading out to the chapel or quieting myself in my inner room—the place where God resides. That is the sacred space of encounter, the quiet refuge from the obligations, where The Answer himself dwells. If you, like me, are struggling with "What should I do for Lent?!" I created a little PDF for you and for me. It's not one with activities for every day of Lent (although I'm SO grateful for those!!), it's not one with the answers to what you're asking... but it is a PDF with prompts to take to the foot of our Lord and to ask Him what He desires, to sit with Him in adoration and worship to honestly ask, "Lord, how are YOU inviting to pray this Lent?" I hope it helps. I hope it is just the invitation you need to start that conversation with the Lord Who is holding you and holds your future. And just as a little warning: He just might surprise you.  {formbuilder:MTA1MzUz}

You've probably already bought all of the gifts. But. I haven't. Have I ever told you that I'm extremely bad at Christmas? Because I am. This is year I've been praying my way through Advent (and LOVING it!), but I'm not quite caught up on the Christmas train. The two shall become one flesh. // Mark 10:8 This week's beautiful wallpaper is from Joe of PAL Campaign. He explains the design, "The chief artistic direction behind this was in the unitive and relational aspect of marriage. The scriptural excerpt treated in a circular path signifies the forever language of the vocation. The varied marks and textures of black, white, and gray symbolize the idea that relationship is not just black and white, but rather, happens in the many shades in-between." I'm Grieving with You - Blessed Is She

My friend, I don't have words. I don't have anything eloquent or appropriate or soothing to say after hearing the news about our beloved Church the past two months. I am struggling to articulate anything without just bursting into tears at my keyboard. On Friday I stopped by a local Korean church. I am not Korean nor do I know Korean, but I heard from a friend that the church has an adoration chapel. I knocked on the door at the office of the church and asked the sweet woman about the chapel and if I could go pray for five minutes. She led me up to the chapel where she told me to take off my shoes and put on their slippers to enter the chapel. I thanked her effusively, so grateful for her kind and trusting heart that let me in to see Jesus in the monstrance. They didn't have chairs in this chapel, they didn't have beautiful lighting or any extravagent paintings or stained glass windows. They just had Jesus, exposed in this small monstrance right in front of a little table with a Korean Bible and a thin mat to kneel on. It was all I needed, this small, simple space. I shuffled in with my pink slippers and knelt down on the mat, a space He made just for me, and I bent over, and I wept. I didn't have words to say to Him. I didn't have any emotions to articulate other than profound grief. My head lay next to this open Korean Bible, rosary, and saint cards, and I was just weeping in front of our Lord. And that's all I am doing today. My heart is grieving. I am in pain. I am in shock. The only solace that came was knowing that Jesus was close to to me. That I was physically near my Savior. That He weeps along with me, holds me, and grieves with me. I wish I had better words. I wish I had some words. But I don't. We have a blog post coming out on Tuesday that will have some concrete thoughts and ideas written by a few Blessed is She writers. We've been talking with our Spiritual Advisor here at Blessed is She, we've been praying, we've been brainstorming, we've been grieving for our Church. I'm grateful for these women and those in our Church who have words when I cannot seem to articulate any. I'm grateful for those who are picking up their rosaries and praying for our Church. I'm grateful for those who are letting their righteous anger move them to action. I'm grieving for you, if you've been abused. I'm grieving for you whose family has been abused. I'm grieving for each and every one of us who feels the great pain that I feel. I love you. I am grateful for your presence here. I am grateful for this communion of sisters in Christ who come together and lean on each other when we are grieving and who can hold each other up when we are tired. I am sorry for this pain. I am sorry for this grief. I am sorry for the sins of those in the Church who give us Jesus in the sacraments. I am sorry for the sins of men who should be in jail for the evil they committed. I am sorry that I don't have the words to take away this pain. But I will go back to that chapel and bring all of you with me in spirit, to sit in front of the Lord, to let His presence soak into my soul, and to weep with our Comforter. The Lord is close. He weeps with us.
