It is common to hear, “God is everywhere.” Because He is. He’s in the mountain landscape, the sea shore, the deep forest.
It is also common to hear, “We can pray anywhere.” Because we can. We can pray on the front porch, in the car, in our prayer space at home.
But there is something undeniably powerful about praying in the Eucharistic Presence of Jesus.
I can’t count how many times I have entered a Eucharistic Adoration chapel and felt something I don’t feel at home, in the car, or in the beauty of creation.
What I feel in the chapel is His living Presence, His very Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in the Eucharist. Yes, His Sacred Heart that loves me and beckons me to come close is beating there.
And it is palpable.
Less Coffee, More Jesus
But how often do I visit Him? How much easier is it to say, “I can pray anywhere,” because, again, I can? How often does my lack of time in Jesus’ Real Presence make more time for the coffee shop drive-thru or scrolling on social media, especially when life gets busy or stressful?
I may want that quick sugary fix of caffeine or to escape through distraction. But what I really need is time to “come away to a deserted place all by [myself] and rest a while” (Mark 6:31).
And there, in the Presence of the King of the universe, the King of my heart, I gaze upon Him in the Eucharist. As I open my heart, I invite Him into my life, my busyness, my stress—all of it. And He gives me the rest, refreshment, and peace I so desperately need, which can only be found in Him.
Come Away . . . and Rest
Are you longing for deeper peace? Calm in the midst of the storm? A renewal in your faith?
I encourage you to find it in the beauty and reality of the Eucharist.
Jesus certainly knows that we don’t need more ways to escape the busyness, stress, or pain; we need Him. And while Jesus doesn’t promise a perfect life, He promises to be with us in the midst of it—to fill us with a peace that coffee, social media, or anything else in this world cannot offer.
Yes, Jesus is the One Who fills our hearts, heals our wounds, and leads us to true peace. And through His gift of the Eucharist, He does all of that for us . . . and more!
Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, feeling disconnected, or just longing for more, “come away . . . and rest” in the Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, where He offers Himself to you—fully and completely.
