Where Is God in All This?
Where Is God in All This? - Blessed Is She

“For the glory and praise of God.” // Philippians 1:11

One of the most important lessons of my life has been: It’s Not About Me.

The good work that has been done in my heart or family or life? God started it, and He’ll see it to completion (v. 6). That good work is not about who I am and what I’m capable ofit’s about Who God is and what He’s capable of.

Also, if and when my love increases (v. 9), making me more loving, lovable, and lovely, well, that’s really not about me, either. God is Love, so when love increases in and around me, the credit all goes to God.

Then, if there are times when I am able to discern what is of value (v. 10), choosing the best, doing my best, being the best I can be? It’s all God. He has given me the gifts to discern as He walks with me in prayer, Scripture, and the Sacraments.

And if, on the day of Jesus Christ’s return, I am pure and blameless and filled with the fruit of righteousness (v. 11), certainly that too will be a gift, graciously and lavishly given by Our Lord and Savior.

Our role in all of this is important. We are active participants in God’s magnum opus of salvation history, and we must respond to the Holy Spirit’s promptings.

But for me, especially in a season where I am tempted to compare my body, bank account, parenting, holiness, and life it is a gift of sweet freedom that I can look at every good thing in my life and in yours and give praise and thanksgiving to God.

Because we did it all, “For the glory and the praise of God” (v. 11).
