Gardening has never been my thing. I guess because I haven’t had as much success as the sower in today’s parable with the “scatter the seeds and go take a nap” method. But I can still appreciate the deeper meaning of Jesus’ message, and see it at work in my life.

I can see it when I think back to the phone call I had with Jenna Guizar in 2014 about this crazy notion of hers: a community of women united by Scripture.

I can see it when I look back a couple years earlier to when I decided the internet needed to know about all these cool old traditions I had found for celebrating the feasts and fasts and seasons of the Catholic liturgical year.

I can see it when I look back even a few years further to the marriage prep process with my now-husband. Our pre-Cana retreat was the first either of us had ever heard of NFP or the concept of openness to life within marriage. Our willingness to make that seemingly crazy leap of faith has grown into the family that inspires my liturgical living in the home, but even more importantly, I’m convinced that that first decision, that first big crazy "yes" to God was the fiat from which all the other graces in my life have flowed. It was that first seed. I was willing to plant it, and God took over from there.

It is the will of God, Who causes the growth, that we, who aren’t anything (1 Corinthians 3:6-7), would have the opportunity to participate in His divine plan. What seeds is He asking you to scatter?
