Receiving God's Abundance
Receiving God's Abundance - Blessed Is She

I saw no temple in the city for its temple is the Lord God almighty and the Lamb. The city had no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gave it light, and its lamp was the Lamb. // Revelation 21:22-23

As a child, I had a recurring dream. A woman wearing a smart, brown 1950s style dress floated away from me in a black emptiness. A man with massive jowls and a black suit would appear and tell me, “Basically, she died for you.”

The man was a stranger, but in my dreams I understood that the woman was my grandmother who had died before I was born. I don’t know what the dream means, if it means anything at all, but it never made me sad or afraid. My grandmother received the Sacraments, and she suffered greatly in life. Throughout my life I have hoped in the Lord and believed that she rests in peace.

Thanks be to God.

Our Catholic faith proclaims the Resurrection of Jesus Christ Who has conquered death so that we may live eternally in the light of His glory. As we attend funerals for friends and family, or sit near the hospice bed of a loved one, or perhaps prepare for our own deaths, let us remember that it is not a black emptiness of a child’s dream that awaits us, but an abundance.

In Heaven, God is everything we need, and we will all be made radiant in His brilliant splendor.

Are your heart and soul ready to receive that abundance?
