Week Five // Holy Spirit, Living Breath of God
Holy Spirit, living breath of God,
Breathe new life into my willing soul.
Let the presence of the risen Lord
Come renew my heart and make me whole.
Cause Your word to come alive in me.
Give me faith for what I cannot see.
Give me passion for your purity.
Holy Spirit, breathe new life in me.
Holy Spirit come abide within,
May Your joy be seen in all I do.
Love enough to cover every sin,
In each thought and deed and attitude.
Kindness to the greatest and the least,
Gentleness that sows the path of peace.
Turn my strivings into works of grace;
Breath of God show Christ in all I do.
Holy Spirit from creation’s birth,
Giving life to all that God has made.
Show your power once again on earth,
Cause your church to hunger for your ways.
Let the fragrance of our prayers arise;
Lead us on the road of sacrifice,
That in unity the face of Christ
Will be clear for all the world to see.
Week Five Intention
We pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the entire world.
Week Five // Day Five
Holy Spirit from creation’s birth,
Giving life to all that God has made.
Show your power once again on earth,
Cause your church to hunger for your ways.
Let the fragrance of our prayers arise;
Lead us on the road of sacrifice,
That in unity the face of Christ
Will be clear for all the world to see.
Never had I felt anything like it before. Hundreds of women together in Adoration, singing and praising, kneeling and standing, heads bowed and arms raised. College students and grandmothers worshipped alongside single women and moms with babies in their arms. Every skin tone, every body type, every beautiful face shining together with the image and likeness of our good, good Father.
The sweetest incense I had ever smelled filled the chapel and rose ever higher through the air. Love was so real in that room, you could almost reach out and touch it.
That, my friends, is what Adoration was like at the Blessed is She Wild Retreat I attended in November. I don’t ever want to forget it.
Sure, it’s one thing to head into Adoration or a time of prayer on our own. A lot of times, that is exactly what our hearts need—a little one-on-one time with Jesus. But when we share our needs, our hopes, and our dreams in faith with others? How much stronger do we become?
Jesus didn’t institute the singular Church, did He? No! He gave us the Catholic—universal—Church! He told us that where two or more of us come together in His name, there He is in our midst.
And can I tell you something? Do you know why, in the midst of all the heartache and unrest that is happening in our Church right now, I feel so inspired in my Faith? It is precisely because of this. It is because of you!
You, the women in the Church who will not be moved, will not let evil tear you apart from your Faith. I see a determination like never before; people becoming more active, diving into Scripture, supporting good priests. Mothers are resolving to take their children to Mass, to live a liturgical lifestyle. Young women are entering religious life. Women of all ages and stations are committing themselves openly and fully to the love that is Jesus Christ.
Yes, God breathed life into this world at the very dawn of creation. Yes, Life came anew at the birth of the Church on that first Pentecost. And that same Holy Spirit who was given to us then is with us now.
He is moving and breathing in the lives of all of us, making us ever more hungry for wholeness. And, through women just like you and me, He will continue to bring His power, beauty, truth, and goodness to the Church and to the entire world.
So, let us continue to pray with and for each other. Let’s sacrifice together in love. And in that gift of Love that knows no bounds, may the Holy Spirit continue to make us new, strong, and ever more alive in Christ Jesus.
Make a plan! Find a way to carry this new habit of prayer into your life in the days and months to come.
