O Lord, my God, in You I take refuge. // Psalm 7:2a
When I leave my warm bed to begin a long day:
O Lord, my God, in You I take refuge.
When I look in the mirror and spot another grey hair:
O Lord, my God, in You I take refuge.
When a giant spider jumps out from the laundry basket:
O Lord, my God, in You I take refuge.
When my toddler dumps the bag of cereal on the kitchen floor:
O Lord, my God, in You I take refuge.
When I cut someone off in traffic:
O Lord, my God, in You I take refuge.
When my teenager talks back and I seethe inside:
O Lord, my God, in You I take refuge.
When someone doesn’t replace the empty toilet paper roll:
O Lord, my God, in You I take refuge.
When I watch the news and worry overwhelms me:
O Lord, my God, in You I take refuge.
When I embarrass myself in front of people I wanted to impress:
O Lord, my God, in You I take refuge.
When home becomes a whirlwind of busyness:
O Lord, my God, in You I take refuge.
When I cannot find peace:
O Lord, my God, in You I take refuge.
When I say my prayers and examine my conscience:
O Lord, my God, in You I take refuge.
When I lie down at night and as I sleep:
O Lord, my God, in You I take refuge.
Amen.
