Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Prayer of Trust to the Sacred Heart (In Times of Stress)
Holy Heart of Jesus, Sweet Sanctuary of rest,
bring peace to my soul and settle my spirit,
especially in the matter of _________________.
I vow to place all of my worries and fears
into the wound of your Sacred Heart,
there to be tended to in accordance with your perfect will,
which desires only the best and highest good.
Your love alone is enough, and I surrender to it;
clinging to the hope of a swift resolution
and trusting with confidence in all of your promises.
Amen.
Reflect
As I enter the chapel, I immediately notice that I’m not alone. The presence of Another is so real, so palpable; it fills the entire space.
I kneel down before Jesus, truly present in the Holy Eucharist, housed in the beautiful gold monstrance upon the altar. I feel His eyes on me, and He smiles. He has been waiting for me.
In the quiet, I hear Jesus’ Sacred Heart beating, and I know it beats lovingly for me. As I feel His strong yet gentle embrace, my head finds rest upon His chest. He envelops me, and I am wrapped in so much love that I feel safe enough to finally collapse into His arms.
Life has been so busy lately. And my priorities have gotten out of whack. Why have I waited so long to come to Jesus with my burdens? Pressures from the outside world, too many to-dos on my list, and increasing feelings of overwhelm caused me to drop the most important part of my life: my relationship with the Lord.
For some reason, I decided to carry the load alone. But I didn’t end up feeling accomplished. I didn’t even get much done. Why? Because I was relying too much on my own strength, which caused me to grow weary and discouraged.
Sitting here with Jesus, my heart begins to still, and peace replaces my anxiety.
Jesus assures me that I am not alone. He is here to make my burdens light. He reminds me that during times of stress, the thing I can’t let go of is my relationship with Him. In those times, more than ever, I need to entrust myself to the refuge of His Sacred Heart, where He will give me rest, security, and reassurance that He is always taking care of me.

Let Us Pray
Dear Lord, thank You for meeting me in this moment. Thank You for inviting me to be still and find rest in the refuge of Your Sacred Heart. When life gets stressful, may I always remember that I’m not alone, and that I can always turn to You for help and strength. Amen.
For Discussion
How does it feel to be in the real presence of Jesus?
In the quietness, can you imagine His Sacred Heart beating just for you? How does that make you feel?
