Novena for the Presentation of the Lord
This novena starts on January 24 and ends on February 1.
O Blessed Mother of God, who went up to the Temple according to the law with your offering of little white doves, pray for me that I too may keep the law and be pure in heart like you.
Sweet heart of Mary, be my salvation.
End with an Our Father, a Hail Mary, and a Glory Be.

Reflect
A Novena is the most traditional way to ask God to grant us a particular intention, for ourselves or for someone else. It is a set prayer or prayers said for nine days in a row, and traditionally ending on the vigil of a feast day. Today is the beginning of the Novena of the Presentation. It ends on February 1st, the day before the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple.
Novenas are not magic. They don’t make God give us what we ask, despite what you may have seen on a (totally unauthorized) photocopied page in a church vestibule. Instead, I have found that whether or not my intention is granted, at the end of a Novena, my will ends up more conformed to the will of God.
Act
Some Novena prayers call for a daily Rosary, some for longer daily prayers and Bible readings. This is a great, quick, and easy starter Novena. Do you have a particular intention weighing on your heart? Why not commit to reciting this Novena?
Let Us Pray
O Lord, help us to place all of our needs and wants at your holy feet. We ask, through the recitation of this Novena, that you would grant our desires, should they be in conformity with your will. Amen.
