Reflect
The Divine Praises help direct us to specific adoration and praise of God and devotion to the angels, saints, and Jesus’ family on Earth. It gives me chills when we pray this during veneration of the Blessed Sacrament. It’s like a big public shout-out to the amazing and mysterious nature of Jesus. Usually the priest says it, line by line, and we respond in an echo.
Jesus is our Brother. He’s also God. His all-man, all-God nature can feel both affirming and distancing. Yes, He experienced our struggles. But He responded differently than we do when we fall into the traps of sin. Thus, He is offering Himself as the ultimate sacrifice to redeem us while also receiving that gift as God.
The deeper I sink into these praises, the more wholly I am able to adore God for who He is and what He's done for me.
Act
Attend Adoration and veneration of the Blessed Sacrament more frequently. Maybe your church offers it before Mass. Make the effort. It’s worth it. Bring the free printable below with you to guide you in offering praise and adoration to God.
Let Us Pray
Jesus, help us to adore You more fully by contemplating the mystery of Your Person.
