A Prayer for Priests and Bishops
O God, who has appointed Your only-begotten Son to be the eternal High Priest for the glory of Your Majesty and the salvation of mankind; grant that they whom He has chosen to be His ministers and the stewards of His mysteries, may be found faithful in the fulfillment of the ministry which they have received. Through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Have you prayed for your priests and bishops today? The ones you love just the way they are, and the ones in whom you see room for improvement – they all need our prayers. I pray daily (or almost daily, anyway) for the pope, for my local bishops, for my parish priests, for the monk who is godfather to one of my daughters, and for the former pastor of my in-laws’ parish, who once angrily asked me to stop attending daily Mass with my somewhat noisy one-year-old.
The sting of that encounter has been lessened by time, but mostly by consistent prayer for him. I pray for him; but also, through my prayers, my own heart is becoming less hard.
Today is the feast day of Sts. Timothy and Titus, companions of St. Paul who were made priest and bishop, respectively, by him. Today is the perfect day to pray for all priests.
Let Us Pray
O Lord, through the intercession of Sts. Timothy and Titus, we ask your blessing on our Holy Father, our bishops, priests, and religious. May they always represent your love to the faithful. Amen.
